To support Small Business Saturday I’ve got most of my Chirstmas presents now sorted from Crafty Praxis in Huddersfield! Got some lovely things!
Today I ran a snow globe making workshop for my local W.I. ! It was so much fun! I still think there’s some things I need to tweak and perfect, ie, those red berries I used kind of dissolved a bit, too much glitter just makes a mess and the glue we used didn’t stick to glass well! I went for fast drying glue as it was a workshop, but I’d recommend araldite for use at home.
But the basics for you to practice at home are:
-Sand down the inside of your jar lid to make it easier for the glue to attach to.
-Glue down small objects with non-water soluble strong glue. You can use photographs, just laminate them first and cut around the laminated image leaving a laminate border around the image.
-Wait for it to dry.
-Fill your jar with distilled water (if you’re in the UK the sell de-iodised water in Wilko’s for 79p).
-Put in a generous dash of glycerine (the more glycerine the slower the glitter will fall!)
- Add glitter! Don’t go overboard, as too much just looks hectic!
- Put glue around the rim of the lid.
-Screw on and leave upside down to dry.
-Turn over and shake!
This is my Kickstarter project where I hand paint cards with portraits of historical and modern figures on the front and their words of wisdom on the inside. Check out my other cards!
Lovely metal stamping decorations made at work!
