I HATE real flowers.  I think symbolically they’re horrible unless hand picked.  The process of mass producing flowers is horrible and results in many workers dying early of cancer.
Also they’re the dying sexual organs of a plant.
Thats not sexy.
So I love ways to hand make flowers, it’s more creative, more thoughtful, they last longer, and no one gets health problems from then.  (Y’know, unless you’re doing them very wrong.)
So here’s a nice tutorial from Blush and Bashful.

Black-hearted Bastard Brooches now available from Daisy’s Creations!

I love these.  I got my boyfriend the Bernard Black one (and a lovely Bjork one!) for his birthday.  I had a photo of him wearing if to post, but I’ve lost it =[  She packaged everything so nicely as well, Daisy’s Creations is pretty much my favourite Etsy shop.

If you’re in the West Yorkshire area of the UK you should get yourself to Bradford Baked Zines this week!  It’s a pop up shop run by Loosely Bound Collective.  It’s full of just amazing zines, I had a lovely bus ride home with lots of new zines to read!

They’ve got LOADS of events going on through the week and are open till 7 every day.

Also, my feminist art collective, Project:BABE have our Becoming Pt. II exhibition there, exciting stuff!

Made not Manufactured:  A beautiful photographic project by Steve Kenward.  Steve has been travelling around the UK photographing craftspeople.  It really is a beautiful project and well worth a proper look.

Meeting the makers - highlighting some of the talented craftspeople that the UK has to offer. People that use traditional crafts to make something that still has relevance today. They are passionate about what they do and take care in everything they produce.”

As someone who…
1. Lives in a building where everyone around us smokes either tabacco or weed. (It is horrid and all my clothes now smell of stale smoke.)
2. Has a house bunny.
3. Is an allergy suffer.
4. Is eco concious.
I constantly have the battle between hating how my flat smells and not wanting to buy commercial air fresheners because of the harmful chemicals inside them.  The folks at Curbly.com had the same problem, so here’s a fantastic tutorial for howe to make your own eco-friendly reed diffuser, huzzah!

I’ve been seeing “-something- in a jar” home baking tutorials for a while now, and I think this one from Something Turquoise is my favourite.  This would make such a nice gift!
